The Season Sessions
Knoxville’s roaming house show series
The Season Sessions are one-off, original live music events spotlighting artists from Knoxville and Southern Appalachia in an intimate, living-room style environment held seasonally at various locations.
-
We foster emotional connection and collective understanding between audiences and Southern-Central Appalachian musicians by creating intimate performance spaces that feel like house shows.
-
No stages: Eliminate physical separation between musicians and audiences so interaction and shared emotional experiences happen naturally.
Venues: Mission-aligned partners who share our values and allow us to customize the set and sound design.
Paying artists: All billed performers are paid guaranteed $150 regardless of ticket sales. Any tips collected are split equally between performers for that session. Artists can sell their merch independently and keep all proceeds.
Profit sharing: Once minimum payment for artists (including The Season Sessions as an entity) and operations costs are covered, any additional profit gets split equally among performers and ourselves. While it's possible we'll make less, we can never make more than the musicians.
-
Performances in the first cycle (I–IV) featured an opening set by founder Nick Shanahan.
Season Sessions I–Autumn: Russell Walker, Chris McGinnis
Season Sessions II: Roland Dixon, Pat Sheridan
Season Sessions III: Watkins, Maddie McCullough
Season Sessions IV: Cory Kimbro (ft. Maddie McCullough), Lazarus Lake (with full band!)
Season Sessions V: Lineup coming soon. Join our email list to hear who’s playing first!
Mark your calendars: Our next show is November 1, 2026 at 5:30 p.m.

Origin Story
Co-founders Ashlyn and Nicholas met at Honky Tonk Thursday in Knoxville, TN. After their first dance, they bonded over college football. Along with rooting for the Vols, music, community, and dedication to their Appalachian home are integral to their relationship.
The Season Sessions started with an informal house show on October 18, 2025. Positive reactions from their community inspired the couple to name the series and dream about what it could become. Each show combines Nicholas’s musical prowess with Ashlyn’s visual worldbuilding, creating an experience more meaningful than what they could achieve alone.
